WHY CHOOSE PRIVATE TRAINING WITH BLACK JACK
DOG TRAINING DESIGNED FOR VERMONTERS
Living in the 5th most dog friendly state, Vermonters, like you, want to take their dogs along with them to enjoy all the environments and sights our lovely state has to offer. This may include hiking in the Green Mountains, strolling down Church St. in Burlington, or stopping by a local brewery. We are dedicated to improving your relationship with your dog and further integrating them into your Vermont lifestyle.
TRAINING AT BOTH ENDS OF THE LEASH
One of the first steps in teaching your dog new skills is teaching you! Learning the skills to clearly communicate between dog and human takes time and education. Black Jack Dog Training wants to improve your dog’s skill set, but also boost your confidence while at the other end of the leash. We value human education; all of our training programs incorporate hands on learning and other teaching aids to ensure we meet your training goals.
METHODS BACKED BY SCIENCE
There are many methods to dog training in our society today. We lead you with methods backed by science to create long lasting results. Black Jack Dog Training uses the Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive (LIMA) approach to dog training which focuses on the use of Positive Reinforcement to train new skills and modify existing behaviors.

How long will it take to train my dog?Every persons learning style is different, we are human! This applies to dogs as well. In general, it takes 1 to 3 months for a new behavior, skills or routines to stick for any living thing. The behaviors we teach our dogs require patience and consistency to remain in our dogs repertoire of skills long term. Our programs generally take 8 weeks to 6 months to complete, the efficacy of training is dependent on how often you're practicing the skills with your dog and keeping up with your routine!
-
Where will training sessions take place? We do not currently have a facility and are considered a mobile training service. In person lessons will occur in the comfort of your home or at an offsite real-world location chosen before the lesson. Offsite locations or field trips away from your home are important to help your dog practice their new skills and behaviors around distractions and environments that are extra exciting or unique.
